Deliveroo Rider: Why I’m Working For Deliveroo

Over the last few weeks, I started working for Deliveroo as a Deliveroo rider. In this post, I’ll tell you why I opted for it and how I think this will turn out to be beneficial for me and my online business in the long run.

What is Deliveroo?

Deliveroo is a food delivery company. It connects with the restaurants in your local area and provides food delivery for those restaurants that don’t offer their own delivery.

How does it work for me as a rider?

I have downloaded a Deliveroo app and installed it on my phone. Whenever I am ready to work, I log in to the application. It uses GPS to tell me which restaurant I have to pick an order from. Then, gives the address of the customer who placed an order from the restaurant. I get paid for delivering food on my bike.

Why am I working for Deliveroo?

I recently moved to a new city where I have a lot of hours that I’m committing to such as my postgraduate course in business studies, this YouTube channel and I also have business goals on the side.

My demand of hours changes every week. I needed to find a job that was part-time, pretty much two days a week that could work with all my other commitments. It feels perfect for the situation that I am currently in for a number of reasons.

Deliveroo has flexible hours

It is perfect in that regard, it has flexible hours and lets me work whenever I am ready to work on these deliveries.

Deliveroo is high paying

On average I have been working for 2 hours and made around £25, which is $33.5. So for an hour that makes around $16-$17, which is actually higher than the office or marketing jobs I have had.

Get paid to workout

I’m a keen cyclist and this lets me get on my bike whenever I feel like working or have time available. I think of it as getting paid to exercise.

This is how I support myself outside my entrepreneurial ventures. Many people might look down on this but entrepreneurship is not a straight road. It’s not an immediate solution for success. There are twists and turns and it’s a long journey. It takes time to get to that level of success where you have complete autonomy and complete independence.

A year and a half into this journey, my life is completely different now as compared to what it was when I started this channel. I am now studying entrepreneurship at one of the best universities in the country. I’m making a monthly income online that is completely covering all my expenses. I’m covering all my bills. I just got a £4000 scholarship to pursue a business idea.

There is a stark difference in my life as compared to what it was a year and a half back but this is not the end of the journey. I personally think you have to be adaptable to suit around your journey.

For me, working for Deliveroo comes as a high-paying job that I can commit to around my other hustles and make a decent income.

In the end, it’s all about your ultimate goal. You gotta do what you gotta do to get it. Adapt along the way and keep moving forward.
